Celestial Collective

Planning from your phone

Your budget, your vendors, your music and your website — in your hand.

Coming

Not built yet. This describes what the Celestial app on your phone will do. It is written down here so everyone is working from the same plan — when it ships, this note goes and the rest of the page stays.

Why this matters

Wedding planning does not happen in one sitting at a computer. You pay a deposit standing in a florist’s shop, a song occurs to you in the car, and you want to show your mother the website over lunch. The phone app is for those moments; the laptop is for the long jobs.

Do this

  1. Your wedding, at a glance
The countdown, what is still outstanding, and who has replied since you last looked.
  2. Log what you spend, when you spend it
A deposit paid in a shop is logged in the shop. That is the only time you will remember the exact figure.
  3. Find and message vendors
Search the Collective, post what you still need, and read the replies as they come in.
  4. Your website, both ways round
Most of your guests will open it on a phone, so you can see and shape the phone version as well as the desktop one — not just hope it comes out right.
  5. Music and guests
Add a song the moment you think of it; add a name the moment you are told it. Both are lists that get filled in over months, not in one go.
  6. Look, but do not seat
The seating chart is readable on the phone — the floor plan, and who is at table six. Arranging it wants a bigger screen; that is a job for the laptop.

You’ll know it worked when

The things you do in ten seconds happen on the phone, and only the long jobs wait for a laptop.

If it doesn’t go to plan

Working somewhere with no signal? What you have already opened stays readable, and small changes wait and go up when you are back in range.
