Celestial on your phone

Not built yet. This describes what the Celestial app on your phone will do. It is written down here so everyone is working from the same plan — when it ships, this note goes and the rest of the page stays.

Why this matters

Most of this job does not happen at a desk. The moment a client says yes is at a venue, on a Saturday, and the contract that should follow it waits until Monday because that is when you are next at a laptop. The phone app closes that gap — and on the day itself it answers questions about the event without you ringing anybody.

Do this

1. Today, first
   What is on, what is due, and who is waiting on you. The day you are in, before anything else.
2. Tasks
   See them, tick them, add one. Due today at the top, because that is the only list that matters when you are standing up.
3. Calendar
   Your day and your week. Tap a day to see the events and tasks on it.
4. Messages
   Read and reply. This is the one worth turning notifications on for — an enquiry answered in ten minutes converts far better than one answered tomorrow.
5. Send a contract or a proposal
   Pick one you already wrote and send it against an event. You compose on a laptop; you SEND from your phone.
6. Ask about the event
   On the day: hold to talk, or type. “What time is the first dance?” “Who is giving toasts?” Answered from the couple’s own questionnaire, timeline and notes — never guessed. If a field is empty it says so.

You’ll know it worked when

You can get through a Saturday without opening a laptop.

If it doesn’t go to plan

Venues are barns and basements. The event you have open is cached on the phone, so questions are answered with no signal — but anything that sends something to another person (a contract, a proposal, a message) waits for a bar of reception rather than pretending to have gone.

If you are a…

DJs. The do-not-play list, the first dance and the parents’ dances, on the phone in your pocket rather than a PDF you have to find.

Photographers & videographers. The running order and who is who — the two things you are asked while holding a camera.

Coordinators. Tasks and messages are the two you will live in. You are the person everybody else is waiting on.
