Signing used to be a PDF, a printer, a photograph of a signature, and a status you had to remember to change afterwards. The status is the part that quietly breaks reporting: an event stayed a lead after the quote was accepted, after the contract was signed and after the deposit landed, until somebody moved a dropdown.
The contract shows as signed, the event shows as booked, and you did not touch a dropdown.
They can return to the same link any time to re-read what they signed — it stays live, which is the usual reason somebody emails asking for a copy.
